1. Double-click the updater application “CompassPro™ XT 1.0->1.0.1”.
2. Locate a copy of “CompassPro™ XT 1.0” in your QuarkXPress™ XTension folder on your hard drive.
3. Click “Update” to update the XTension from version 1.0 to 1.0.1. Your personalization info and serial number will be left intact. The old copy of CompassPro™ XT 1.0 will be moved to the trash.
4. Before running QuarkXPress with the updated version of the XTension, open the folder System:Preferences and rename the folder “CompassPro™ XT 1.0 Prefs” to “CompassPro™ XT 1.0.1 Prefs”. This will allow you to use your old preferences and Sets files. Otherwise, when you run QuarkXPress with the updated XTension, it will create the new folder and new preferences for you.
Restoring Preferences and Sets From Version 1.0
If you did not follow Step 4 in the Installation section, you can still restore your old preferences and Sets files by copying them from the old preferences folder - “CompassPro™ XT 1.0 Prefs” - to the new folder - “CompassPro™ XT 1.0.1 Prefs”. These folders reside in the folder System:Preferences.
Enhancements/Fixes Since 1.0
• Added improved simulations of Pantone(R) library colors.
• Enhanced performance when matching EPS files. Files are now matched from 20% to 50% faster.
• Certain pattern colors in Illustrator EPS files were not being converted properly. This has been fixed. The fix yielded faster matching as well.
• Some colors in FreeHand EPS files were not being converted. This has been fixed.
• Some colors in large files were not being converted correctly, especially in low memory situations. This has been fixed.
• Fixed a bug in the EPS matching code where the color values could be processed more than once when two or more color names were similar.
• Fixed bug where the separation flag of locked Quark palette colors was sometimes changed. These colors are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black and White, and their flags are no longer changed. Symptoms of this problem came in the form of "fatter" text because Quark was treating the color differently in process separation mode.
• Fixed bug when matching Quark palette colors to a Closest Colors palette or a CompassPalette. Data was not being loaded for all the color spaces.
• Fixed bug when matching EPS files using a Closest Colors palette. Symptoms of this problem include excessively long matching times and invalid color transformations. This problem did not affect matching when using a Praxisoft CompassPalette with its uniquely named colors.
